All ants prefer dark and damp areas to build nests. Ants will travel long distances for a drop of water and food inside your house. Black ants and Fling ants hide in places where you can't see them.

How do you know if you have Carpenter ants.
Lets take a close look:
The queen: (responsible for laying eggs).
The worker (chews holes / hollows out wood for a colony).
The black ant: (looks for food and brings it back to the nest).
The flying ant (looks for a mate and a place to start a new colony).
If you see flying insects in or around your house the above
picture will help you determine if it’s a Carpenter ant. Notice
the carpenter ant has three distinctive body parts, one set of wings
are short.
HOW TO GET RID OF CARPENTER ANTS, CHECK OUT OVER THE COUNTER BAIT TRAPS OR TREATMENTS THAT YOU CAN BUY.
I MIXED 70% BROWN SUGAR AND 30% BORAXO (HAND SOAP), DAMPEN WITH WATER AND PUT IT IN A SMALL JAR LID. THE ANTS ARE ATTRACTED TO THE BROWN SUGAR, THE BORAXO KILLS THEM. I MADE UP SIX JAR LIDS AND PLACED THEM IN AREAS WHERE I SAW ANTS. I DONT HAVE PETS, IF YOU DO PLACE THE LIDS WHERE THEY CAN'T GET TO THEM.
